Following the latest European Subsea Cables Association Plenary held in Edinburgh last week, Briggs Marine welcomed a group of NextGen members for a site tour to their head office in Burntisland. The #ESCA Next Generation Working Group (NextGen) is an initiative for early career starters or those who are new to the cable industry.
As part of the tour, the group were invited to try on a dive helmet (which is heavier than it looks!), and to explore the diving department’s hyperbaric chamber as well as seeing the images picked up by the department’s in-house ROV.
The tour also included a demonstration of cable tensioner and power quadrant feeding a #SubseaCable, whilst our HV services team discussed the detail of testing & jointing power cables.
The tour finished with an insight into the collection and application of survey data – a great afternoon despite the blustery conditions!
