Workboat Skipper

The Role

The Workboat Skipper will be required to manage the schedule requirements of the Peel Ports contract for dredging, oil spill and third-party work. They will be tasked with maintaining and improving the safety, efficiency and environmental performance of the service during operational hours, as well as delivering optimum business performance.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Ensure adequate resource allocation to meet operational demand
  • Carry out and ensure adherence to operational processes and procedures to meet Briggs’ and the client’s standards
  • Ensure all vehicles/vessels/equipment are maintained in accordance with operational guidelines
  • Keep the the planned maintenance system up to date and be familiar with defect statuses
  • Promote and develop best operational practice for dredging, oil spill response and third party jobs

The Candidate

The successful individual will have:

  • Experience of working in a marine environment
  • Competency in dredging operations
  • An understanding of oil spill response and pilot vessel operations
  • An Advanced Powerboat licence with Commercial Endorsement or a Yachtmaster Power certificate with Commercial Endorsement
