The Support Services Department has four key areas and an extensive yard with workshop:
Our team of experienced, qualified tradesmen supporting the maintenance and repair for our vessels. The maintenance team cover repairs and installations of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, steelwork, painting/corrosion protection and carpentry.
Our moorings/aids to navigation team are responsible for the full refurbishment of around 220 buoys per year covering the blasting & painting, steelwork repairs, pressure testing and electrical & lighting work. Once refurbishment is complete the buoys will be in operation for a minimum of five years. The team also deals with any relights due to damage from contact with vessels or lighting faults.
Our procurement team manage our supply chain ensuring our vessel fleet and contracts have the correct products and services in the UK and European ports. We have developed long term agreements with our key suppliers focussed on cost and adding value to our client offering.
From our base in Burntisland we manage our large fleet of vehicles including vans, 4x4’s and HGV with Hiab Crane. Our HGV is used to transport project equipment and mooring/aid to navigation buoys around the UK.
Our workshop and stores facility is 3,600m with overhead cranage. We have a large range of equipment including heavy gauge guillotine, steel press, steel sheet roller, welding equipment (ferrous/non ferrous), and bench drills. We have a UHP (Ultra-High Pressure) water-blasting bay for the surface preparation of steel, aluminium and fibreglass, which removes all old coatings and corrosion, and two painting shops, one of which can accommodate a small workboat. Our yard storage facility is around 24,000m and is fully secured with 24hr CCTV system.
